Three questions for…

Samira Iraki, consultant in the neustart project

In neustart, people receive support from experienced consultants when starting their business. Our new consultant Samira Iraki has been with us since January. She has already had some experience of starting up a business for people with a migration background. In the interview, she talks about her motivation and her advice for new founders.

Why did you decide to work as a consultant for Neustart?

For me, it is a wonderful opportunity to support founders from other countries of origin in implementing their visions. I am inspired by the energy and motivation of the people who, despite many challenges, want to take their lives into their own hands and live economically independently in Germany. The founders bring with them an enormous amount of knowledge, skills and resources; this potential is so valuable that not only I as a person can learn and grow from it, but also our society in Germany. I am looking forward to the many different start-ups and the people behind them.

Which startup topics do you find particularly interesting?

Due to my professional background, women's entrepreneurship is of great interest to me. Particular topics here are the role of women, single mothers/mothers with a migration background. I am interested in how these three dimensions interact and what obstacles they bring with them when women* start their own businesses. Unfortunately, these factors still make it difficult for women* to start their own businesses on various levels. In my work, I focus specifically on the potential, strengths and resources of women* and their entrepreneurship.

I founded a women* network (spacewomen / reSource eV) about 4 years ago and am always amazed by the energy and motivation of women* to implement their visions.

You yourself founded the association reSource eV: What advice do you have for our customers who are still at the beginning of their company?

My experiences over the last few years have taught me to share my ideas/visions with people I trust and then take action step by step.

Specifically, I advise anyone who wants to start a business to write down their vision/idea, to be aware of their own strengths and skills, and to see in which areas they need support to overcome certain challenges. Which existing contacts and networks can be approached and which new contacts can be established in order to exchange experiences and information or to receive targeted support.

Get out of your head and start acting!

There is always a way to implement visions and ideas.
